Applikasi Linux Ubuntu Sehari-hari

Aplikasi atau Software di Linux dalam hal ini distro Ubuntu sangat banyak macam dan jenisnya mulai dari aplikasi prasekolah sampai pascasekolah dan dari nubie “penguna baru” sampai hacker “Profesional”. apakah kita akan menggunakan semua aplikasi yang ada ribuan bahkan mungkin jutaan macamnya? yang pasti kita akan menjawab dengan kata “tidak”.
Kalau boleh saya kasih saran gunakan kompi kita seefisien mungkin yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan keinginan kita. dan menginstall aplikasi dari repositori yang di sediakan pengembang demi keamanan dan kesetabilan.

Begitu juga dalam kompi saya, saya hanya menginstall beberapa aplikasi yang saya butuhkan dan tidak banyak pernak-pernik yang bisa memberatkan kinerja kompi jadul saya yang pas-pasan.
Sekedar untuk catatan dan berbagi, Biasanya setelah fress install ada perubahan setting dan beberapa aplikasi yang selalu menjadi target utama pengeksekusian Sistem Operasi saya selain default Ubuntu seperti Libreoffice yang sejajar dengan MS Office dan semua aplikasi ini semuanya free:

1. Matikan beberapa efek Compiz yang tidak di butuhkan
2. MODEM digunakan untuk mengunduh paket aplikasi yang ada di repo online. andai kita benar-benar baru dalam hal Linux Ubuntu. dan cara untuk mengkonekan modem di ubuntu ada berbagai cara beberapa caranya kita bisa lihat disini. kalau sudah konek ke internet jangan lupa langsung update sebelum menginstall aplikasi.

3. MP3 Player / PLAYER MUSIK karena default Sistem Operasi yang di seponsori Canonical Ltd ini “Ubuntu” tidak bisa menjalankan file mp3 karena terganjal Lisensi, Ubuntu hanya bisa menjalankan file yang benar-benar bebas GNU seperti file ogg. jadi agar Ubuntu bisa menjalankan file mp3 kita membutuhkan beberapa codec yang tersedia di repo caranya tinggal kita dobel klik file mp3 dan secara otomatis Ubuntu mencari codec yang di butuhkan, atau kita tinggal menginstall player yang sudah menyertakan codec mp3 seperti Audacity,Audacuious dst.
a. Audacity untuk mengolah file musik baik di potong atau di tambahkan.
b. VLC MP di gunakan untuk menonton file VLC yang biasanya ada di youtube.

4. GRAFIK di butukan ketika kita ingin mengolah gambar baik foto atau desain grafis agar lebih menarik dan unik.
a. GIMP aplikasi ini untuk mengolah foto atau gambar seperti Adobephotoshop di Windows.
b. Inkscape,Scribus untuk membuat desain grafis yang hampir sejajar dengan CorelDraw

5. VCD,DVD PLAYER senasib dengan file MP3, VCD dan DVD film yang biasanya file berextensi .DAT tidak akan bisa langsung jalan di Ubuntu kecuali menambahkan beberapa codec yang telah disediakan repo, Tapi biarpun codec VCD,DVD sudah di install default Ubuntu “Movie Player” tetap tidak akan bisa menjalankan VCD,DVD kecuali dengan Aplikasi Player seperti.
a. SMPlayer berguna untuk menjalankan VCD film.
b. MakeMKV untuk menjalankan DVD.

6. Zekr adalah salah satu Aplikasi yang paling saya suka, berguna untuk mengetahui isi Al-Qur’an bisa juga untuk membaca dan mendengarkan lantunan Al-Qur’an sekaligus Terjemahanya, Zekr bisa berjalan di semua Sistem Opersi baik Linux,Windows atau Mac.

7. Idic salah satu Kamus digital yang kosa-katanya bisa kita tambahkan sendiri.

8. Elkitrasse Aplikasi ini bisa dikatakan MaktabaShamila yang berjalan di Linux merupakan aplikasi yang berisi kajian kitab klasik yang berbentuk digital dan pustaka kitabnya bisa di ambil dari pustaka maktabShamila.

9. KeepassX untuk membantu mengatur dan menyimpan password yang mungkin kita lupa peletakan password yang tepat untuk beberapa situs atau dokumen yang berbeda passwordnya.

10. Wine Windows Emulator seperti kita tahu banyak aplikasi/Software yang kita butuhkan hanya bisa berjalan di OS windows salah satu jalan keluarnya dengan Wine yang bisa mengeksekusi Software atau aplikasi berextensi file.exe.

11. Fonts Dan setting keyboard arab ini hanya sebagai pelengkap dan penunjang aplikasi yang kita gunakan.

12. conky interface fleksibel yang ringan untuk mempercatik tampilan Desktop dan mengetahui kerja sistem.

Membuat system baru dari restore backup

Sekilas cerita asal penulisan ini dari pengalaman saya yang dualboot ubuntu 10.04 dengan 10.10, dan suatu hari saya tidak sengaja merusak system ubuntu 10.04 dan alhasil gagal booting 10.04 dengan peringatan init tidak di temukan, tapi 10.10 masih ok. parahnya lagi dvd kompiku error/optik lemah, dan booting usb ga suport di kompi jadulku, mau pijem ke temen perasaan ga enak kalo mau ngobok-obok kompi orang kesimpulanya ga bisa fresh install.
Kemudian saya bereksperimen membackup system 10.04 dari virtualMachine yang ada di 10.10 dengan bermodalkan ubuntu-10.10, 10.04.iso dan VirtualMachine trial n error akhirnya berhasil membuat system baru dari backupan VM oracle.

asumsi 10.10 dan virtual kondisi ok, dan sesuai kilasan cerita diatas caranya:
1. jalankan kompi masuk ke ubuntu-10.10 buka VirtualMachine dan backup system 10.04 yang ada di virtualMachine, caranya:
a. jalankan VM dan masuk ke ubuntu 10.04 yang ada di VM
b. buka terminal, perintah sudo su
c. kemudian “cd /”
d. kemudian perintah “tar cvpzf backup.tgz –exclude=/proc –exclude=/lost+found –exclude=/backup.tgz –exclude=/mnt –exclude=/sys /” untuk lebih jelas kesini. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=35087

2. pindahkan hasil backupan VM ke host ubuntu caranya bisa dengan usb-storage, share folder host n virtual, atau share network VM n host.

3. setelah selesai memindahkan tutup VM dan kembali ke host kemudian Restore backupan VM ke partisi 10.04 yang rusak atau ke partisi baru. caranya:
a. buka terminal mount partisi 10.04 yang rusak contoh: “/dev/sdb1″ dengan perintah “sudo mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt”.
b. kemudian extrak dengan perintah “tar xvpfz backup.tgz -C /mnt”.
c. buat kembali file yang tidak di backup perintah “sudo mkdir /proc /mnt /sys /lost+found”

4. setelah selesai kita masih butuh beberapa proses lagi yaitu membenahi booting init dan kernel dengan chroot, kalau tidak maka ketika booting kita di hadapkan ke peringatan “/dev/disk/by-uuid/**** not exist”.
a. buka terminal (Ctrl+Shift+t)
b. sudo mount –bind /dev /mnt/dev
c. sudo mount –bind /sys /mnt/sys
d. sudo mount –bind /proc /mnt/proc
e. sudo chroot /mnt
f. “update-initramfs -u” dan “update-grub” perintah ini dalam keadaan kita sebagai chroot.
g. keluar dari chroot “exit” dan umount /dev /sys /proc
5. update grub agar partisi baru tadi bisa di kenali dengan perintah “sudo update-grub” sehingga keluar text seperti ini atau mirip ini.

NB. Saya beranggapan mungkin tahap ke 4 ini bisa menyelesaikan salah satu masalah busybox initramfs (gabisa booting / booting yang keluar hanya layar hitam).

fresh install dualboot acer emachines

Ini pengalaman saya ketika mau menduallboot netbook acer eMachines tapi saya lupa serinya.
Beberapa minggu lalu saya menduallboot netbook emachines win7 dengan ubuntu 10.04 dari sini tidak ada kendala sama sekali, Ubuntu lucid berjalan sangat baik di emachines semua driver sudah tersedia di default ubuntu (dari repo id.archives.ubuntu) dengan menambahkan beberapa plugins, file.mp3 dll sudah bisa berjalan baik.

Setelah beberapa hari di pakai karena tidak faham tentang lisensi win7 temen saya “katanya” meremove user admin win7 yang terdaftar di lisensinya microsoft. alhasil win7 yang geniun berubah menjadi monster “ilegal”.
Disini masalah mulai timbul dari mulai tidak bisa menginstall permanen software dari safemode atau pun normal sampai add user admin super user yang legal.
karena tidak adanya dvd booting win7 untuk merepair atau fresh install win7 maka di putuskan untuk menginstall xp, Ternyata emachines tidak bersahabat untuk duallboot ubuntu berdampingan dengan xp. setelah browsing kesana-kemari, intinya
1. Xp tidak bisa di install di emachines kecuali dengan merubah settingan mode hdd ke IDE bukan AHCI (default) yang ada di BIOS.
2. Dan sebaliknya ubuntu tidak bisa di install di emachines dengan settingan mode hdd IDE.
3. Xp masih membutuhkan setidaknya lima driver untuk menjalankan beberapa device emachines.
4. Ubuntu tidak ada masalah semua berjalan normal dan baik.
5. Duallboot win7 dengan ubuntu lancar.

Open Source di Indonesia

Saya merasa senang dan gembira mulai banyak penguna Linux “Open source” di Negara yang berlambang GARUDA ini, walaupun mungkin kurang dari 0.25% pengguna.

Saya kira permasalahan yang mendasar bagi masyarakat enggan untuk memakai Open source adalah tidak terbiasa “user friendly” dan tidak ingin sedikit susah “malas” mempelajari sistem baru (bukan upgrade).

dan kalo menurut saya yang bodoh, Open Source yang di gaungkan oleh para penggiat dan penggerak Open source di negara kita ini tidak akan sukses selagi DEPDIKNAS tidak menghimbau “dengan keseriusan” ke Sekolah-Sekolah untuk mepergunakan Open Source di jajaranya.

Sebab menurut saya lagi DEPDIKNAS adalah yang bisa menghimbau “menekan” ke Sekolah-Sekolah untuk mempergunakan Open Source, Secara otomatis para Siswa pun akan mempergunakan Open Source untuk tugas-tugas mereka. dan menjadi terbiasa dengan Open Source.
